Our Story
Owners Michael and Sandra Walker are proud of the business and community hub they’ve created. It all started when their son Darian graduated from UNC-Charlotte's five-year architectural program with a Bachelor of Arts degree during the fourth year of his studies. At this time, Michael declared that he would construct a building if Darian designed it first. Darian took this seriously and got to work immediately sketching and designing.
The building later became Seagrove Creations, a gallery for the best local artwork and a coffee shop (as requested by Sandra) where guests could unwind and sip fine coffee. After countless hours of critiques and discussion, we approved the final design, and construction began with footings being dug, gravel being poured, and rebar being placed.
Darian's design was something we were very proud of, and we even did a lot of the construction work ourselves. We poured the concrete slab and started building the walls on January 26, 2006. In addition, we installed stones and bricks at Darian's designated locations for the barriers. We employed a carpenter in March 2006 to complete the upper walls and roof. From the first day of excavating to the last day of carpentry, the building's construction took 27 months in total.
